Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD for ITSA) is a new requirement from HM Revenue and Customs from 1 April 2026 that requires certain individuals to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates using compatible software.

Self-employed individuals and landlords with qualifying income above £50,000 will be required to follow the new digital reporting rules.

The new system will be introduced in phases, starting with certain taxpayers from 2026, with additional taxpayers joining in later years.

You will need to keep digital records of income and expenses and submit quarterly updates, an end-of-period statement, and a final declaration to HM Revenue and Customs.

We can help you choose compliant software, set up digital record-keeping systems, prepare and submit updates, and ensure you remain fully compliant with MTD requirements.
